Personal branding - some very simple steps to follow which will really help you become recognised

If you've spent your life wondering when things will improve, and have tried lots of different ways to be successful then I'd like to ask you to read a little story about personal branding, and what it means and the importance of using it to grow YOU, before you undertake any form of business.

How many deaf ears will this article fall on? Probably too many. Statistically the overwhelming majority of people do not realise this, or if they do, they continue on using the same old tactics - promote, promote, promote without branding themselves first.

I want to get you into an example - a short story to get your creative juices flowing. A man called John is trying to generate more traffic to his website which sells marketing products. This is a tough industry as many people regard messages as spam.

John is keen to make things work and has budgetted $1000 a month on advertising with the hope he covers the cost after 2 months. The trouble is, he makes only 4 sales with $108 profit and actually makes a thumping great loss of over $1750 after just 2 months - he has to stop advertising right away.

Because of this huge loss, John decides that it is simply not a viable business proposition. The internet sucks and all you do is lose money, thinks John. He returns to his factory job and tells his co-workers to stay well clear of the internet.

One of Johns friends Bill is similar to John. He too is optimistic and decides he wants a try. But instead of jumping in, Bill decides to spend time reading up on the best ways to do this. He learns that it is important to brand yourself first, i.e. get yourself known as an expert, or someone who can be of benefit to others, and become well liked. Bill uses his artistic talents to create free landing pages for internet marketers.

It doesn't take long for people to realise that here is a great guy who offers something selflessly and genuinely. Soon thousands visit his site, and many of them signup to his free tips newsletter which tells them how to make the most of their splash pages. Those who sign up each get a free splash page by him - what a great trade off!

Well within just 2 years, Bill has served more than 100,000 people who are now subscribed to his list. None of them knew he had software which helped him set up hundreds of splash pages a day, but that was Bill's little secret, and well the pages were actually very good indeed. Sadly John was still going to work at 6am to his factory job.

Bill finds a few products online which are actually very good indeed and similar to what he does, in fact they make life a little easier. Bill sends out an excited email to his list and 400 people buy the product, making Bill a cool 400 x $27 = $10,800 and continues to make similar amounts of money every month. Not bad for 2 years of doing something he loves.

It's near impossible to earn $10,000 a wek from a regular job. This isnt taught in school. In fact, this is why I told you this story about Bill and John and the importance of personal branding. If you really want an incredible lifestyle then learn to brand yourself first.
