Why do we need a press release? What purpose does it have? What are its benefits? Well, a simple answer to this is that you need people to know about your existence. If you need to be known as a person or as a business entity, then you have to distribute news about yourself. A press release does this for you.

Press releases are basically pieces of information in written or recorded media conveying something that has news value for example a new product launch, a new acquisition by a company.

A press release can change the perception of people about your company and its range of products and services. It is very useful in gaining recognition in the market and portraying yourself as a probable client who is efficient and willing to work. Also, if published on web, it will add substantially to the traffic on your website.

When you publish a press release on a website and promote it, people will usually prefer visiting your website as it is easiest means of having an impression of who you are. As people visit your webpage they indirectly increase the traffic to your website.

A press release has a universal appeal and is viewed by the probable clients and the customers alike. You can announce opening of new a business or its relocation and publicize your products and services. It can help you get a contract or can motivate a customer to try your product which is already available in the market.

A press release should be better be written by a professional as it is critical in providing platform for a new product or a service by a company. The content should be to the point and should be directed towards the favourable audience so as to attract attention. Unnecessary information should be avoided and necessary information should be highlighted.

Another important part is to decide who to send the press release to. Your release may be highly creative and innovative, but if it is not distributed well enough, it may fail to serve its purpose.These things, if taken care of, will surely help you and your organization in becoming known to the people and hence in the growth of your business.
